"We Made the Paper!"

It was the request of our family friend that Lil' D show his handsome face in the local paper. This morning, his wife, Suzie called and announced, "We made the PAPER!" Oblivious (with a slight touch of postpartum noodle brain), "I wondered what in THE wide world did I miss yesterday?!!!" My relief perhaps outweighed my joy, Davison's picture had, indeed, made the Knoxville News.

I wish CJ could have seen it published; he has since left us for Heaven. We did send him the picture of choice before had passed.

"...We made the paper, CJ."

We surely miss him. What a precious time we had knowing CJ Patton...

Sabrina, Sabrina--

The Tall One reading her history chapter: "When Vermont joined the Onion..." 2/12
"Mommy says, 'You just can't trust that groundhog.' You know, those men in the black hats caught him and said he saw his shadow. But spring is really coming early. They said it would be six more weeks of winter...But, I don't know...I think they could be wrong." 2/25/11
The girls were playing so loudly they disturbed Davison's sleep so much, that, he started crying. Very upset Sabrina came to me, "Mommy, I said I was sorry--but he is *still crying!" 1/12
Shane was bragging on Sabrina the other day: "YOU are SUCH a BIG girl--helping mommy with laundry, dishes, and the baby! You help mommy SOOO Much! I am SO proud of you! A lot of mommies don't have big girl helpers like you!" Sabrina responded, as serious as could be, "Daddy, like before--when mommy didn't have me and Darcy, and she only had you?" (I really enjoyed this one!) 1/12
I was just served breakfast in bed, honey butter toast and fresh strawberries, was just served by my sweet girl, Sabrina. She's a doll. Of course, I'm just a tad partial;) 12/29/11
So Sabrina says my three mantras are: 1. You'll live... 2. The Lord didn't put you on this earth to be an ornament, and, last but not least, 3. Aren't you glad you have a mother?!:)" she's pretty close;D 1/10/12
So the Tall One philosophizes, "You know what the real danger of Christmas would be?". "Um..., no." half expecting a a deep, spiritual reply. "That we get lots and lots of presents and we don't have totes enough to store them!!! *That would be a tragedy..." Definite case of "storage ISSUES:D! 12/11
So...our very thoughtful and mature Tall One was asked, "Honey, are you excited about the baby coming SOON?" We were very pleased with her excited reply, "YES!!!" then she explained her exuberance, "...Because...after he comes I CAN START MY SWIMMING LESSONS I GOT FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!!=D" (hmmm...=) 11/11
Sabrina pulled her own tooth...I am amazed! 3/11
I was just asked, "Mommy, will you put my clippie in my hair." My response, "No, right now, I have to go dig the hippo out of the potty and that might take up the rest of my afternoon." 7/11

Darcy Girl--

"I didn't know how to do it the right way, so I did it my own way..." 2/27/11
Thoroughly agitated and indignant, The Short One burst into my room hopped onto the cedar chest and leaned over my bed and erupted with, "MOMMY! Sabrina irred at me; She did. TWICE, Mommy. She irred at me." I could see the Tall One moving in to defend herself. When given opportunity we discovered The Short One had ever so intentionally and kindly kicked over a play area, which caused the Tall One to growl at her short playmate... "I would have irred at you, too." was my honest response. They have since reconciled their differences and no more irring has been heard (lately). 2/27/11
I was taking pictures (imagine that!) on my iphone and they weren't to my liking, "Oh...I need to go get my other camera out for this shot...hmmm." Darcy, who was supposedly posing with her daddy for a rare picture of them together, stuck her leg STRAIGHT up in the air, pointed her ballet toes in the air making small circles and giggled loudly, "You'd better shake a leg, MAMA!" 1/12
A Swiss Cake Roll was on the Short One's breakfast menu; the Short One, in direct retaliation to my negative response, is now back in her bed--asleep. I guess she was so mad she couldn't take it;D! 1/12
Shane: "What's THAT? THUNDER???" Me: "Um...Punch balloon? ...And Darcy???":D 1/12
AND there went the curtains!:P Oh, my Darcy-- the fourth rod she has broken checking for Daddy coming home...My word!!!:D 1/24/12
Darcy is singing, "Sweet Jesus, Sweet Jesus, what a wonder you are! Your Myda-fark can err decide..." her own rendition, obviously! 1/25/12
The Short One, full of grace and beauty, a delicate flower of the field, says with a shy, giggle (ahem), "HE'S GONNA ***BURP!!!!!!*** It is in decided likeness to the iconic Hollywood adage--"It's Gonna BLOW!!!" For the record, when she gets married and *I* walk down the aisle, it will be to the tune, "I'm a SURVIVOR!" 11/25/11
SO=D...my very unpredictable, outspoken, mischievous, animated cherub (ahem), aka, The Short One, was directed to a random customer in Chick Fil A. What happened next, well, I was glad I wasn't there...I will say, subsequently, a ballad was spontaneously composed in the restroom, "She is in her pajamas in Chick Fil A, She is wearing her pajamas in Chick. Fil. A...in her pajamas..." I was so glad I was not around! 12/28/11

Little D...

Bathed little D, who has decided a bath isn't torturous--thank goodness:), cleaning my room like a good wife should;), listening to Pandora with a tightly swaddled Davison (who, according to Darcy, says he "looks like a butterfly tumming out of a tutoon:D")... It's a pretty good day:) 12/30/12

Lil' Henry slept for six hours last night; I think we'll keep him if he keeps this up;) 1/5/12
So, guess what! Our son has an opinion that is well associated with a very large poochie lip, and the distinctive cry, "Mmmm...geh!" :D! He will cry when the face above him is not to his liking or when I leave him with a "stranger" and walk away. It is hilarious to watch;D Objectively, I have *never seen a baby recognize and exercise preference this early! Perhaps it is his many experiences with hospitals and nurses (who I appreciate, but he dislikes--due to many pinches and pokes!)??? 1/20/12
Christmas is not all decked to the hilt this year, not one Christmas cookie has been made, groceries are not bought yet, there are no presents under the tree until BROWN rings... It is quite simple at our house, but, we think it is, truly, the *Best* Christmas ever--for we are the blessed parents of a beautiful 8.8 lb. miracle. "Together" is a beautiful word. 12/23/11
Lately, I have folded a laundry pile the size of a volkswagon bug--no kidding! wow! Lesson learned: don't have your squirt 3.5 weeks early, avoid two week long hospital stays thereafter, consider installing flashing lights and blaring horns when a certain four year old with "crick-ed" ponies enters her bedroom (aka--ground zero), above all, *never leave husband and laundry soap unattended:D!!! --author, JB-- Out from Under the Laundry Pile;) 12/13/11

I have to learn the difference between the apnea monitor and the fire alarm...Davison is NOT going off! Shane is working with a blow torch on a broken water pipe in the garage--that is the fire alarm! Aye ya yae--ya! they sound identical! 12/5/11
Since we have been so serious lately-- I must tell you, we just left the hospital as Elvis was entering the building. 12/3/11
